Background and Info

Swedish furniture design and fashion has evolved throughout time. Sometimes it has been heavily influenced by the French and the Italian styles, but the swedes have always been able to put their own character and charm to the furniture and have adapted its functionality and practicality to its environment. Following one may find descriptions of time epochs that is described in most of the furniture that you may find on my website.

Rococo

Rococo less commonly roccoco, or "Late Baroque", is an 18th-century artistic movement and style. It developed in the early 18th century in Paris, France as a reaction against the grandeur, symmetry, and strict regulations of the Baroque. Read more here..

Gustavanian

Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, the Swedish Upper Class adopted design aspects from a variety of European countries - mainly Italy, France and England. Read more here... 


Baroque

After the rise of Sweden as a Great Power in the 17th century, the aristocracy began to build again. At the same time, the notion of the architect was established and the profession developed. Read more here....

Peasant/Allmoge, Painted Furniture

Timber is widely available in the Scandinavian region and back in the day readable available to create new furniture and with paint it was transformed out of the more common -  the detailed paint finishes of the Swedish furniture have lasted through generations. Read more here...
